1. What is the best season for travel to Central Asia?
The best time for traveling to Central Asia is from mid March to mid June and from August to mid November. During this time the temperature is usually agreeable and does not rise higher than +25-30°C (77-86°F).The middle of spring to the beginning of summer is a season of blossoms of flowers, trees and other plants in orchards.
The end of summer to the end of fall is a harvest season of all fruits and vegetables in fields. The local markets are full of fresh fruits in this period.
It is hot in summer, sometimes very hot and the temperature is up to +40, +45 C. However this is good for those who like trekking and camping in mountains owing to dry weather in the period.

2. What is the weather like in Central Asia?
Central
Asia has a sharply continental climate. There are more than 250 sunny days a
year in Uzbekistan & Tajikistan. Often it's extremely hot in summer (June to
August) The hottest summer month is July. The average temperature in this
period on plains and foothills is 25-30°C (77-86°F), and in the south it
reaches 31-32°C (88-90 °F). In autumn the weather is clear and the
temperature decreased slowly as winter approaches. The coldest winter month
is January.
3. What clothes do you recommend to wear in Central Asia?
There
is no strict rule for clothing in big cities of any country of Central Asia
though in regions still people wear national clothes like long-sleeved
shirts or long tunic-style dresses (cover the body to the knees or heels)
for women, overcoats without buttons named “chapan”, headdresses such as
traditional pointy hats and skullcaps (duppi) and etc. But it is advisable
cover most parts of your body including arms and legs when you visiting
Muslim religious sites . In summer owing to hot weather it is better to wear
light-colored cotton garments. A hat and sunglasses are necessary
accessories. Also, recommended to use sun blocks in summer period. In colder
weather, better to bring warm clothes.

is not recommended to drink water from the tap. Better to use water in
bottles. One bottle of water per day is provided by Tour Company during your

11. What is food like in Central Asia?
Central
Asian cuisine is very diverse. Almost every region in the country has its
own traditional food. Also,available European food in the restaurants and
hotels. Almost in every Central Asia countries national food is similar and
there are a various described dishes. Plov, shashlyk, samsa, manty, lagman
are popular in all Central Asian republics. The dish knowing as “plov” is
the main popular food in Central Asian countries for everyday and
celebrations too. In Uzbekistan, it cooks from pieces of fried meat with
onions, thinly cut yellow carrot and rice cooked in a large iron pot.
Kazakhs cooks a sweet “osh” with dried apricots, raisins and prunes, while
“osh” Askabak is made with pumpkin. Shashlyk is a variation of grilled kebab
served with onions and non (national bread). Shashlyk is mostly similar in
Central Asian cuisine. Samsa is a pastry pie stuffed with meat and onion or
pumpkin, potato, cabbage, mushrooms or nuts with national spices backed in
tandyr (traditional clay oven).In every regions of Central Asia, samsa
backed in many varieties, depends on season and region. Manty are large
dumplings stuffed with thinly cut meat or pumpkin, seasoned with various
spices and a large amount of onion, cooked in a special pot. Shurpa is a
soup with meat and vegetables. Lagman is a handmade noodle soup with sliced
fried meat and vegetables. The taste and the way of cooking this dish in
every region of Central Asia are different. Traditional Kazakh and Kyrgyz
cuisine consists from boiled foods. Meat is the main for Kazak cuisine.
Kazakhs prepare delicious kazy, smoked horsemeat sausage. Served on special
occasions sliced with cold noodles it is called naryn. Also available
national drinks such as kumys (fermented mare's milk), shubat (camel's milk)
and airan (sour milk beverage). Instead of bread, The Kazaks prefer baursaks
(fried rolls) served with the most popular drink - tea with milk. Green tea
is the most popular drink of the Uzbeks. Traditional tea-houses, also know
as “chay-hona” can be found everywhere in Uzbekistan. Besbarmak is a
favourite dish of Kazak. Besbarmak (the word means five fingers) consists of
pieces of boiled rolled out dough garnished with thinly sliced meat (mostly
horse or lamb), potatoes and onions. Ka'urma is lamb deep-fried in its own
fat and cooks only in Turkmenistan. In Turkmenistan you should try the local
national food knowing as Ishkiykli and it is are dough balls filled with
meat and onion, which are traditionally cooked in sand that has been heated
by a fire. Tandyr is a traditional clay oven, heated with firewood or gas.
In tandyr locals cooks national food such as samsa and national bread.
12. What kind of vegetarian food is available in Central
Asian countries?
Vegetarians
can order from menu different kinds of salads during the season. Some
restaurants offers special vegetarian menu as well. During summer and autumn

The
official language in Uzbekistan is Uzbek (one of the Turkic group of
languages). Russian language is still in use with locals. However
Uzbekistan's policies moving toward the West and encourage to learn English
as well. In 1996, Kyrgyzstan's parliament adopted a resolution making
Russian an official state language in Kyrgyzstan. Tajikistan is a
multi-lingual nation. The country’s official language is Tajik, which refers
to the South-western group of the Iranian languages. The Russian language is
still used and understood, especially in Dushanbe. The republic’s third
language is Uzbek, spoken by the part of the population who are the ethnic
Uzbek. Also, in the east of Tajikistan is still in use languages of small
ethnic groups knowing as Pamir. The official language in Kazakhstan is
Kazakh. However the Cyrillic alphabet is in general use and most of the
people in the cities can speak Russian. Uyghur and other regional languages
and dialects are also spoken. The language of Turkmenistan is Turkmen. From

that must be retained until departure. This allows for the importation of
articles intended for personal use, including currency and valuables such as
video cameras, mobile, jewelries, which must be registered on the
declaration form and keep it before departure.

16. Is it possible to use credit cards in Central Asian
countries?
Credit
cards such as VISA, Master Cards are acceptable in main hotels, stores,
banks and restaurants (mostly in capital cities).

In
general you may use video and photo camera at any place free of charge, but
in some places for an additional fee, however it’s restricted in subway
stations or at TV-tower.

local people of Central Asia?
The
local people are very friendly, hospitable and hard-working. Majority of
people are secular Muslims. It is normal for young people to pay high
respect to old people. And the greeting “Assalomu Alaykum” is widely spread.
The response is “Wa Alaykum Assalom” Mass people's festivities are widely
celebrated. They are followed by special ceremonies, festive bazaars at
which musicians, dancers, wrestlers perform.

Muslim holidays are Ramadan Khait and Kurban Khait - the date
changes each year in accordance with Moon Calendar
The biggest holiday in Central Asia is Navruz (New Day or New Year in
accordance with Moon Calendar). Navruz is widely celebrated everywhere in
Central Asia as the day of peace and charity and spring festival. Only in
Navruz, the locals cooks special dish known as “symalak” in Uzbekistan. This
dish consists from wheat sprout, water and wheat. In Kazakhstan people cooks
the dish knowing as “Navruz Kozhe”, which consist from seven ingredients as
per ancient tradition.
Muslim holiday Ramazan Khait - two or three days of celebration at
the end of Ramadan (the month of daytime fasting). These days used for
family visits and donations to the poor.
After 70 day from Ramazan Khait, the locals celebrates Kurban
Khait (The Feast of Sacrifice). During these holidays locals visit the
graves of relatives.
Remembrance Day is celebrated on May 9 as a day to honour martyrs,as well as
veterans of the World War II.
Besides these holidays, the Turkmen celebrates festivals, providing a unique
spectacle for tourists.
First Sunday of April is «The drop of water is the grain of gold" festival.
Last Sunday of April is a day to celebrate the Turkmen horse.
May 19 is Makhtumkuli poetry festival.

22. Shopping advises?
Handicrafts
are available at art workshops in all the cities of Central Asia. Shops
offer a rich choice of articles made of semi-precious stone; carved and
painted wood, bone of horn, embroidered skull-caps, decorative handmade
suzane, miniatures, ceramics, varieties of hand-made silk etc. The bazaars
of Central Asia cities offer products ranging from spices and ceramics to
carpets. Main of the museums has small shops with a different kind of modern
wares and some original items as well. It is advisable when you are shopping
to ask for a certificate from the shop. Presentation of such certificates
should speed up customs formalities on departure through the boarders and
airports.
23. What religions in Central Asia?
Predominantly
the Uzbeks are Sunni Muslims around 80% of population, Shia is 15% along
side with Russian Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Jewish minorities. Freedom of
religion is practiced.
The Turkmen are Sunni Muslims (85% of the population).
The main population of Kyrgyz are Sunni Muslim and consist 75%. The Russian
population of Kyrgyzstan is mostly Russian Orthodox and consist 20%.
The Kazakhs are Sunni Muslim is 47 %, Russian Orthodox 44% -, Protestant – 2
%. Kazakhstan is the only Central Asian country whose constitution does not
assign a special status to Islam.
The Tajiks are very religious Muslim and their population is around 98%.
Except Muslim, a few other confessions there such as Orthodox Christian,
Lutheran, Korean, Judaist Synagogue, and the Baptist and Krishna followers.
