Payment at stores and shopping centers can only be at national currency - Drama. There are lots of currency exchange offices which equally willing to accept U.S. dollars, euros and Russian rubles. In addition, you can exchange money at almost any store or from a private vendor - it is not considered illegal. In order to exchange a foreign currency it is not required to present a passport.
In Armenia there are many ATMs and a broad network of Western Union.
